7 Attitudes

Have you ever wondered what the Bible states about raising strong children, or increasing your storehouse, and enjoying these blessings from God? Or just how to be happy in general?

Psalm 144:12-15 says, "THEN our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style. Our storehouses will be full, supplying all kinds of produce; our flocks will increase by thousands and tens of thousands in our open fields. Our cattle will be well fed... Happy are the people with such blessings. Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh."

Does that sound like your life? Would you like it to be? By reading verses 1-11 of Psalm chapter 144, you can find out what behaviors and attitudes God describes that results in happiness and these wonderful blessings.

Here's 7 attitudes to embrace:

1.) Give praise.
May the Lord my rock be praised...

2.) Give credit.
He trains me for battle, He is faithful, my fortress, stronghold, deliverer, shield. He subdues my enemies... List who He is to you and what He has done.

3.) Take refuge.
I take refuge in Him... Choose His shelter and not your own means. Actively place your spirit and life under the protection of His hand, His care, His wings. Go to Him for comfort, safety and shelter during your battles. Take refuge at your Bible study desk. Take refuge in your prayer closet. Take refuge under your prayer apron. Wherever and however you hide in the Lord, take refuge there. Don't stand out in the storm. Take refuge in Him!

4.) Acknowledge who you are.
What is man... like a breath. Reflect on our fleeting existence. Recognize our lowly position as man. Be  unworthy, but grateful. Cast away pride, and all self-accomplishment and aggrandizement and have a realistic mind frame of who we are in relation to Almighty God. Because He went way out of His way.

5.) Ask in bold faith.
Lord... come down, reach down, rescue me, set me free... Call upon your mighty and powerful God in His strength to do what He needs to do in your life. Call on Him to scatter your enemies and route your foes. This attitude is such bold asking it is borderline demanding to the Lord. Have enough faith in the strength and ability of your God that you call on His undeniable nature, take His promises to the bank and cash them in. Call out the names of God and His character of love, power, protection and provision. He honors His children who call out in faith and belief; rather than a whimpering, unsure child of God scared to think God may not come through, or uphold His word, hear or rescue His beloved children.

6.) Sing of the victory He gives!
God, I will sing a new song to you... This is not an ancient cultural jewish act. It's singing people! He gives victory! He frees His servant! Sing! Sing out and claim your victory in Him! Don't tell me singing is not your thing; adopt attitudes 1-5 during your battles, see what God does, and you'll have reason to sing. Perhaps those who don't sing are living in defeat; or living in bondage. If you don't feel the need to sing to Him double check your attitudes. Do you praise yourself? Take all the credit? Live as if you deserve it? Pray whimpering half-hearted prayers 'in case' they don't get answered? Get your heart straight and enjoying singing a new song.

7.) Be a people whose God is Yahweh.
Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh. You will be happy! YAHWEH: Divine name by which God revealed Himself to Moses. Get personal with God. Have a sandals-off-holy-ground-burning-bush-one-on-one meeting with Him. Allow the attitudes of Psalm 144 to reveal the personal nature God to you. Encounter Him on a personal name basis.

Did you get all that?

Praise - Credit - Refuge - Self-check - Ask - Sing - Be!

You'll notice 1 & 2 LIFT the Lord. 3 & 4 LOWER man. 5, 6, & 7 Demand, Declare, and Determine your circumstances.

Boiled down to nuts and bolts. Your take-away bumper sticker for daily reflection.

LIFT Him up.
LOWER yourself.
LIVE in victory.
