It's an interesting thing when good things come to an end.
In many ways you are sad because you know a very good thing has run its course and will no longer be as you have come to expect it to be. On the other end of the spectrum you are excited and can't wait to see what lies ahead in the future.
These emotions always come at the end of the school year. It is one of the most exciting, yet sad times in youth ministry as our seniors are transitioning from high school to their next step in life. After years of praying for, pouring into and laughing with them you have to understand that they are ready for this next phase of life.
This year we wanted to do something different, something special. Instead of just honoring them on stage in front of the church we gave Harborside an opportunity to individually bless these seniors. Naturally, we thought a prayer/encouragement wall would be the best way to go.
The response was tremendous with many people, young and old, writing special words to leave our students with. Here are a few examples:
"As you move and transition into this next phase of your life cling to the unchanging word of God. You are loved."
"Always remember to keep God first!"
"Remember: God is only a prayer away and the Spirit is with you always."
"Continue to trust in the Lord and He will direct your paths."
"You have been anointed and sent out. You have been equipped for your calling."
"Dear class of 2013, I hope God is with you all during your journey after high school. Stay strong in your faith even when you are tested."
So class of 2013, be blessed. Know that we love you and you won't be forgotten. And always remember that you have a family at Harborside.
