Each week it is a joy for me to step into our children’s classes, because what I see warms my heart: children excited to see their friends and leaders; children engaging in fun activities that show them something new about God; children connecting with their leaders because they know their leaders love them and care about them; children singing and dancing to songs of praise for God; children running to their class because they can’t wait to say the Bible verse to their leader; children journaling their personal prayers to the God they know listens and answers.
Pas-sion – an intense, driving conviction
Our passion in Surfside kids is for children to come to know personally the God of The Big God Story – to know that just as he saved the Israelites from slavery and brought them to the land He had promised – He can and will save them from an “ordinary” life of sin to an “extraordinary” life in Him that He has planned for them.
Speaking of extraordinary, our volunteers in Surfside kids are not “ordinary” volunteers. They spend time during the week preparing for the Sunday class time. They arrive early to get ready to welcome kids to their classes. They “get down” on the children’s level to connect with them more personally and demonstrate God’s love. They call or email me during the week just because they’re excited to spend another Sunday morning sharing Jesus with “their kids.” A passion for God and for sharing Him with children makes our volunteers “extraordinary!”
You can see why it is a joy to step into the Surfside Kids classes every Sunday – it is a chance to be a part of children coming to know the God of The Big God Story and to witness the passionate, extraordinary volunteers who can’t wait to share Him!
