Another Christmas...or is it?

"Merry Christmas!" A common and happy sentiment this time of year. But is it just another Christmas to you?

Is it just another rushing busy time of year to keep up with friends, family and traditional expectations? Have we missed the real meaning? The irony is that Christ's birth interrupted many folks' busy schedules and they all stopped to draw near to the Christ child in wonder. Can we put our busy agenda *celebrating Christmas* on hold long enough to model the behavior of those early manger visitors so long ago?

Harborside has embraced a theme this year: "Rest in His Presence." Now I know what you're thinking, 'There's not much rest in the presence of children!' But sometimes we can't hear the still, soft voice of God's Spirit when the holiday noise is turned up so loud.

What example are you showing your children this Christmas season about what the most important things are to remember during this special time? Take some quiet moments to rethink your priorities this year; and consider re-prioritizing them for 2014.

Surfside Kids has experienced some change this year, and anticipates more improvements in reaching your children, our children, this next year in the best way we can. We continue to be grateful and rejoice with our family of volunteers that walk through the Sunday Surfside Kids journey with us each week. It's more like a Connect Group. We live and laugh and love our way through these little lives and have a blast doing so. God has been so gracious to bless us with new families and couples this session- looking to reach out, lean in and contribute to the generation growing up in this world.

So while the lights keep flashing, and the carols keep playing, think back to the single event that kicked off this whole celebratory time of year: a child was born. And many put their work, their lives, and their duties on hold to stop everything and go be in the presence of this Wonderful One.

Merry Christmas friends,
