Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-11
Our Surfside Kids are praying for one another!
A few months ago we initiated Prayer Pals for our children from 4 years old through 5th grade. Every Sunday the children draw Popsicle sticks to determine their Prayer Pal for the week. While the children commit to praying for one another throughout the week, are they really doing it?
One of our dedicated volunteers shared a story with me last Sunday. She told me of a little girl who, over the course of several weeks, was displaying some behavior issues in the classroom. This brilliant woman reached out to another child in her class and asked for the child’s help in setting a good example in the classroom. This child told the teacher that she and the other girl were Prayer Pals.
She said, “I have been praying for her to be happy.” Not for her behavior to improve or for her to be nice - just for her to be happy.
The very next Sunday, the volunteer told me that a completely transformed little girl came to church. And her Prayer Pal? She said, “God answered my prayers!”
God wants to answer our prayers. He wants us to ask so that He can deliver so that He can be glorified.
My prayer is for God to rain down His blessings on Harborside’s children’s ministry and for families to be transformed by His all-consuming love.
Lord, thank you for strengthening us and for upholding us with your righteous right hand.
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22
