Thomas the Train Leads to Spiritual Growth
One of our very special volunteers shared the following story with us. This is the kind of story that validates the fact that it is those who contribute who are most blessed. I hope you enjoy:
I wanted to share a short story with you ...
I have taken on an additional role at work and it has consumed me last week and this week. I have felt overwhelmed and been doing a lot of praying on it. Last week one of our Surfside Kids lost his Thomas the Train toy in another classroom at the end of 9:30 service. I helped his mom look for it and we couldn't find it at that time. I asked the child if I found it could I please play with it and take care of it this week for him. He kindly said yes, moved quietly into his mom's arms and they left. Right afterwards I found the train in a different class with a different child. I ran to the lobby and didn't find the family. So I took the train and put it in my car for safe keeping.
It fits just right in my coin holder in my Jeep, just waiting to be reunited with this little boy on Sunday. Every day I climb in and out of the car Thomas is smiling at me. Happy and green and reminds me that God has control of my life and I can hand over my anxiety to him. He has the plan. Not me. I have truly felt the Holy Spirit this week during this transition and I feel so very lucky to be a part of Surfside Kids volunteers. I was so moved today on my way to work as I glanced down at Thomas and was filled with the Holy Spirit. It brought me to tears.
Smiling at the other drivers ...
If they only knew ...
The anxiety had lifted and I thanked God at that moment.
This little child has made my week and has taught me a lesson without him knowing it.
Thank you for letting us be a part of SSK. Thank you for letting Mike and me be a part of this. We may be helping Harborside. But Harborside and these kids are helping us in our walk. I hope we can share our story with others as it is such a spiritual growing opportunity. God has truly blessed us since we found Harborside. I thank Him everyday. We are truly living a different life.
I just get so excited about the kids I want to share it with everyone and God's message. :)
